One of the surprises of our 2023 product launch was the new line of Schoolgirl Style candles and wax melts! I’m not sure I can convey in words my passion and borderline obsession for scents and pretty aromatic smells. BUT I will confess, I’ve got about 100 different perfumes sitting in my bathroom right now because the love is real and I just can’t help myself!
Midnight Meadow | Schoolgirl Style Candle
For me, it’s all tied to the feeling. The enchanting aroma of a space or room can evoke such strong feelings that then tie to memories, and the science behind scents and the brain is actually quite fascinating! It stimulates the limbic system, which is the part of the brain that houses memory and emotions – speaks to the power of our senses! Personally, I constantly have candles burning in rooms throughout my house because it boosts my mood, productivity in work and overall well being.
Toes in the Sand | Schoolgirl Style Candle
The whole process of candle-making and wax melt making was about two years. We partnered with a local Michigan merchant, Good Faith Hand Made, who was a dream to work with! And there were several details very important to me while creating our signature, luxe scents:
- I wanted high quality
- I wanted clean ingredients
- I wanted them to be teacher-inspired
- I wanted product for both the home and classroom – thus the candle option or wax melt option
- And of course, I wanted to curate combinations of scents that evoked positivity
Michigan Summer | Schoolgirl Style Candle
We landed on creating SEVEN signature scents, TWO of which coordinate with our new classroom themes this year, Sugar Pop and Midnight Meadow. In Schoolgirl Style fashion, the packaging is eye-candy with the black and white polka dot design. And we have made these available for purchase on the online shop AND in the Main Street shop (come visit us in Michigan!).
