Introducing…FABULOUS FROGS!

I often get emails from my followers with suggestions for classroom themes.  Over and over again, people asked for frogs.  Honestly, I put it off for the longest time because I wanted my frog collection to be different than anything out there.  It had to be more original than just a typical green and yellow color scheme.  I put so much thought into it, then it came to me…NAVY and TURQUOISE  with green as the accent color.  YES, that’s it…finally.  But, that’s not all…I added the most beautiful paisley pattern to coordinate.  The colors are so soothing, yet modern.

BEHIND THE SCENES:   This was the collection where I discovered glue dots!  Have you ever used them before?  They are FANTASTIC!  I created a 3D effect with my frogs and dragonfly cutouts using these babies!   I placed 1-2 glue dots on the back of each cutout before I attached it to my board.  Stapling cutouts to a bulletin board can sometimes make it all look too flat, but adding a simple glue dot can make those flat cutouts come to life!

My color combination consisted of navy, turquoise, light blue, green, and a little bit of yellow.

This is just CRAZY cute!  I used one of my 14 inch paper daisies to create this ADORABLE lily pad!

Another feature that I absolutely adore about this collection is the paisley pattern paired with jumbo turquoise polka dots!  It’s such a happy, playful combination!  Chevron, stripes, polka dots, and paisley…some of my absolute favorite patterns!

“Why, HELLO there, Mr. Frog.”  Did you notice the cute patterns on their bellies?  Each little frog coordinates with my decor pieces for a beautifully cohesive look!

Talk about major “WOW” factor!

I’m sure you’re wondering how I created these lily pads?  Command Hooks are the key.  If you look closely, I used a hot glue gun to attach the hooks to the top and bottom of my paper daisy.  Tie fishing line on the top hook and hang from your ceiling.  To attach the frog, I covered the metal hook on the top Command Hook with glue (make sure you use a lot), then I took the two frogs and sandwiched them together on top of the hook (make sure the fishing line is in the center of the frogs).  I held it for a minute to make sure it stayed.  Gently, I used a tiny bit of glue around the edge of the frogs to keep them together.

I found that once it was hanging, the daisy tipped dramatically.  I found adorable white daisy clips from Michaels and clipped it to the side that tipped.  The weight of the flower clip balanced the daisy perfectly.  The end product turned out pretty amazing!
