If you follow me, you know that I just moved into my new house.  As you can imagine, it takes such a long time to get situated.  I am so ready to make this house mine!

Although I LOVE decorating for the holidays, I told my husband that this year would be very minimal.  How could I ever make the house look magical when I don’t even have furniture yet?  (We ordered new furniture and it won’t arrive until January 3rd.)  Also, most of our stuff is still in a storage unit back in our old town.

Despite the setbacks, I pulled together what I had and tried to make the house feel festive for our kids.  After it was all said and done, I think it turned out beautiful!

I am happy.  Most importantly, the kids are happy.  However, I do feel like I’ve failed my followers in a sense…I know you were waiting for my house tour…and I only gave you one room.  I promise that next year I won’t disappoint!

With that said, I adore following Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday House Walk each year!  Have you followed it yet?  This will definitely put you into the Christmas spirit AND it is SO much fun!

Jennifer is having a linky party tomorrow (Monday) and she’s giving people the opportunity to link up and show their houses decorated for Christmas.  She (and the other contributors) will choose three people to be a part of next year’s Holiday House Walk.  You can imagine my disappointment because I didn’t really decorate this year…oh, how I wanted to enter!

After some thinking, I decided to link up last year’s Christmas post.  I’m hoping that I have a shot at being one of the three that they choose!

So…here goes nothing.  Let’s hope this will be enough.

Enjoy!

Christmas House Tour 2013

I love getting the opportunity to peek into homes and seeing how people decorate for the holidays!  There’s just something about Christmas that makes everything feel magical!   I believe that our home should reflect the celebration that is about to take place in December.  As the song says, Christmas IS “the most wonderful time of the year!”

I spend several days decorating my home for the holidays.  Honestly, I am so disappointed when Christmas is over and I have to take down all of my pretty decorations.  Doesn’t your home feel bare and stark when it’s all gone?  I only get to enjoy it for a few weeks, then I end up taking several days to tear it all down again.  Not fun.

This year, I decided to decorate differently.  I used winter themed items as opposed to Santas and Christmas themed decor.  I really wanted to keep my decorations up for months and ENJOY them instead of packing everything away on New Years Day.  While decorating, I still used a few Christmas items, but really tried to keep it to a minimum.

I created my own decorating theme this year (and I made up the name myself)…  I called it Woodland Glitter.  I envisioned an “outdoorsy” winter wonderland with lots of snow, greenery, pine cones, and the occasional woodland animal here and there…oh, and lots and lots of SPARKLE!

I really love how everything turned out!  Everyone that comes into my home comments on how “warm” it feels.  I have to agree.  The natural elements in my decor really gives our house that cozy, warm feeling that I was trying to achieve.  I’m also extra happy that I don’t have to take it down right away!  Woohoo!

Enjoy the tour!
