If you are following my blog and Facebook page, you know that I just finished my Owl theme photo shoot yesterday. You are also probably wondering about the Dr. Seuss theme! Yes, I put that one in the schedule for yesterday as well. I had it all ready to go! The props were purchased, tags were made, fabulous ideas ready and then I received some bad news…
I happened to stumble across a blog post from another teacher blogger about some Dr. Seuss “issues.” Apparently, there are lawsuits involving teachers creating Dr. Seuss lessons and clip art. I also heard that you cannot even use the name “Dr. Seuss” in anything you create. I was cautioned to stay away from doing anything involving Dr. Seuss. I find it very sad since teachers are the one’s that really promote Dr. Seuss in the classroom. My students are currently Dr. Seuss “crazy!” We use their website and read their books and I dedicated the whole month of March to Dr. Seuss! Needless to say, I had to abandon my Dr. Seuss theme. Boo!
Now, more about the owl theme…
Although I was very sad that I couldn’t continue with this theme, this allowed me to focus all of my time on my Owl theme. I promise you that you will not be disappointed with this one!
The owl theme was created since a large number of you asked for it. I had visions of creating a cheerful and fun environment that both children and adults would love. I intended to create a vignette using bright, happy colors of hot pink, green, orange, turquoise, and brown.
You don’t know this, but I always share my ideas with my mother before I finalize any of my designs. (Yes, I still get mommy’s approval!) My mom has a great eye for design as well and I value her opinion. So, I told her what I was doing and she didn’t like “my vision.” Me, being somewhat of a design rebel, I did what I wanted anyways! Ha!
To make a long story short, it is truly gorgeous and my mother admitted that I was RIGHT I absolutely LOVE the color combination and I think it is my personal favorite room! I am so excited for you to see it and I know that you will love it too!
Here is a sneak peek of some of my designs!
