I originally planned to just do a classroom photo shoot, but then I thought, “What the heck! I will just show everybody the other areas of my house that I decorate for the holidays!” If you are like me, I KNOW that you would probably be interested in seeing what the rest of my house looks like!

This photo shoot is my formal dining room. Since I have children, I wanted this room to appear child-friendly. I chose to decorate in polka dots, silly pumpkins, cute cats, candy corn, and use traditional orange and black. Holidays are cuter with polka dots – especially if you have kids! Polka dots give a whimsical and fun appearance to a room.  A party or a holiday just isn’t the same without using items from Polka Dot Market.  I used their black and white gingham cupcake wrappers, black and orange polka dot balloons, and their black and white polka dot treat boxes…SO CUTE!

Make sure that you take a look at the table runner…one of my biggest design secrets is the use of wrapping paper as a runner on your table! There are so many cute wrapping paper patterns and it can make a huge impact in the overall appearance of your design. Check out how I folded the edges! Isn’t that a great idea?!?!

I also love the poms on this table!  We often think that we need to hang them from the ceiling, right? Nope. Look how cute they look just sitting on top of an urn! I love how it looks like a huge, orange mum – perfect for Halloween! No need for fancy, expensive flowers on your table…these are perfect!

Lastly, I created a banner made with the coordinating wrapping paper on the table. The letters are from my shop – it is called “Build-Your-Own-Banner.” You purchase the letters you need to build any word – each letter is only $1! Every letter you purchase comes in twenty different colors, so you just click on the color that you want and the possibilities are endless. For this design, I chose to alternate black and orange. I was able to create a stunning focal point to my room and it cost very little.

Now…enough about the room…it’s time to look at my pictures! I hope you enjoy them!

Come back tomorrow to see my living room!
